PERI Foundation is making digital copies of the collection of the P. S. Gamzatova Dagestan Museum of Fine Art

In 2017 the P. S. Gamzatova Dagestan Museum of Fine Art won a competition for a grant from the Head of the Republic of Dagestan. As part of that grant, high-resolution digital copies of some 400 pieces in the museum’s collection are to be made. The PERI Foundation has supported the museum’s digital copying project and, as a partner in it, has offered the cultural institution its high-resolution equipment.

A Dagestani student will study in Silicon Valley

On August 18th Sagitav Sagitov, a young programmer from Makhachkala, set off to study in the San Francisco Bay area’s Silicon Valley. Sagitav was offered the chance to intern in the USA after his 2D game called Cero took first place in the PERI Innovation Challenge, a competition for promising projects. The young programmer will study for a month in San Francisco at Beyond Games, one of the leading computer game companies in Silicon Valley.

A director of the PERI Foundation’s operations in Dagestan has been appointed

The ZIyavudin Magomedov PERI Charitable Foundation has announced the appointment of Zaur Omarov as director of the Foundation’s operations in Dagestan. Zaur Omarov from 2014 to 2017 was director of the Uspekh National Centre for Youth Activities of the Ministry of Labour and Social Development of the Republic of Dagestan. Before that he had worked as an advisor to the Ministry of Labour and Social Development of the RD and as director of the Informational-Analytical Centre of the Committee of Youth Affairs of the RD.

The Urbanfest architectural festival in Derbent has come to a close

The Urbanfest architectural festival in Derbent, the first in the city’s history devoted to new ways and methods for urban development, had been organized by the Ziyavudin Magomedov PERI Charitable Foundation, the Laboratory of the MARCH Moscow Architecture School, and the Derbent Municipal District administration. The purpose of the festival was to acquaint the city’s residents with creative technologies that would lend themselves to better arranging its territory and providing space for social recreation.

A PERI Innovation intern has qualified for the international school in Dilijan

PERI Innovation is pleased to report that Artur Klychev, a continual participant in the activities of the business incubator, has qualified competitively and enrolled at the UWC Dilijan College international school. The PERI Foundation will provide him with a stipend for the entire duration of his education. This year Artur Klychev submitted his application to attend the UWC Dilijan College (Armenia) international school, qualified and was invited to come to Dilijan.

In June 2017 the PERI Foundation became a member of the Donors Forum, an association of major grant-issuing organizations operating in Russia. It is the only organization in our country that connects foundations and companies that systematically engage in charitable activities.

Digital copying of the unique Dionysius frescoes in the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin in Ferapontovo has been completed

The international expedition wrapped up its project to make digital copies of the unique paintings by Dionysius in the main church of the former Ferapontovo monastery in Vologda oblast, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. From mid-May through late June, 300 early frescoes, more than 600 square metres of paintings done by Dionysius and his sons, were copied digitally using the latest technology and equipment.

On May 13th and 14th the PERI Innovation business incubator held the 4Kids Hackathon Spring 2017 for children. Over 150 schoolchildren came to attend this IT marathon from all across Dagestan, from Charodinsk to Khasavyurt.

The Museum of Dagestan is to receive development support

The results of the Changing Museums in a Changing World grant competition of the Vladimir Potanin Charitable Foundation were made public on April 20th. One of the winners in the Museum and the Local Community category was the Tsarskaya Polyana. Art-Gunib project which was developed by Patimat Aliskandieva, director of the Gunib Regional Natural History Museum, along with participants in a planning seminar in Derbent organized by the PERI Foundation and the Peter the Great Museum.

The Spring School for Researchers will be conducted at the Peter the Great Museum in Derbent

The PERI Foundation, the Laboratory of the MARCH Moscow Architecture School, and the Derbent Municipal District administration have announced the start of their Spring School for Researchers project, which will be offered in a format that is completely new to Dagestan. For two months young city residents under the guidance of experts will examine the life of Derbent and then plan and build pieces of architecture that will breathe new life into the city.

PERI Foundation is making digital copies of the Eastern manuscripts from Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography of the Dagestan Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Science

As part of its international Cultural Heritage 2.0 programme, the Ziyavudin Magomedov PERI Foundation is preparing to make digital copies of the archive of Eastern manuscripts at the Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography of the Dagestan Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Science. About 50,000 Eastern manuscripts drawn from the Institute’s archive, as well as from private collections, are to be copied electronically.

Results of the competition for young photographers from Belozersk to be part of the project to make digital copies of the Dionysius frescoes in Ferantovo have been announced

The PERI Foundation announced the results of the competition for young photographers from Belozersk. The winners are Aleksandra Smirnova from Kadui in Vologoda oblast and Fyodor Komlev from Vologda. They have been selected to be trained for the expedition to make digital images of the Dionysius frescoes in the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin in Ferapontovo.

The PERI Foundation begins construction of the PERImeter Educational Centre in Makachkala

On 1 February 2017 the Ziyavudin Magomedov PERI Charitable Foundation will begin construction of the PERImeter Educational and Cultural Centre in Makachkala, Republic of Dagestan. The overall cost of the project, including funding its educational programmes, is on the order of one billion rubles.

From the 27th to the 28th of January 2017 in the Peter the Great Museum complex in Derbent, leading experts will hold a planning seminar entitled Museums and Communities—Cultural Projects as a Driver of Urban Development devoted to the role of museums in the composition and evolution of the urban environment. It will examine instances in which museums have worked with urban communities and the potential for more interactions of that kind.

In Makhachkala from December 6th to 13th Republic-wide mathematics sessions for students in the seventh to ninth forms will be held in Makhachkala at the PERI Innovation office. The Nadezhda Centre for extra-curricular education of schoolchildren will conduct these sessions as one of the programmes for the PERI Foundation’s Centre for Gifted Young People.

The DevDays Hackathon—a marathon devoted to creating IT projects—was held at the PERI Innovation business incubator from November 4th to 6th. The prize money given out in this event came to a total of 300,000 rubles.

This Wednesday, August 31st, as part of the Cinema and the People programme of the Peter the Great Museum in Derbent, the films that are in the finals of the Mayak International Youth Film Festival will be screened.
