In Makhachkala from December 6th to 13th Republic-wide mathematics sessions for students in the seventh to ninth forms will be held in Makhachkala at the PERI Innovation office. The Nadezhda Centre for extra-curricular education of schoolchildren will conduct these sessions as one of the programmes for the PERI Foundation’s Centre for Gifted Young People.
The sessions will provide deeper instruction in various topics covered in the olympiad materials that are especially pertinent to the regional stage of the National Mathematics Olympiad for schoolchildren. Those participating in the sessions will be students who either won or placed in the olympiads for the republics, as well as active attendees of mathematics summer schools or mathematics clubs. Studying these materials will provide session participants with excellent training for mathematics competitions at various levels, including the National Olympiad for schoolchildren.
A total of 31 schoolchildren will take part in this event. They will be students from the Republic Comprehensive Lyceum and from cities all across the Republic of Dagestan, including Makhachkala, Kaspiysk, Derbent, Izberbash, and Kizlyar. They will be divided into two groups, one with 11 seventh form students and the other consisting of 20 from the eighth through ninth forms.
Prominent mathematicians from Makhachkala and Derbent will be in charge of the sessions, and Igor Fedorenko, director of the Bernoulli Mathematics Centre, has come from Krasnodar Kray specially to guide them.
On Saturday, December 10th, mathematics teachers are invited to join in the sessions to see how they are carried out and pick up ways to handle talented children effectively, while they also review their own capabilities.
